able to look at the shelving units, tables, and chairs the same way again. “I kind of have this different lens, this different perspective on them,” he says. “I look at them now and I’m like, ‘Oh, that’s where that came from. That’s where that name is from.’” As for Umlaut, Lynch says his puppy thoroughly enjoyed the trip, especially the numerous walks they took in the various towns and villages they visited. “He was loving it,” Lynch says with a laugh. “He was in the car the whole time, just looking out the window, wagging his tail.” And while Lynch isn’t sure if he’ll embark on another IKEA-themed road trip in the future, he’s definitely open to the idea. “Maybe in another country,” he muses. “Maybe in another part of the world. Who knows?” But for now, he’s content to have explored Sweden in such a unique and quirky way, and to have discovered the original namesakes of some of IKEA’s most popular products. “It was just a really fun adventure,” Lynch concludes. “It was a great way to see new places, meet new people, and experience Sweden in a way that I never had before.”
