Inside the roadmap to defeat Tren de Aragua, the mega-gang taking over U.S. cities

The Tren de Aragua (TdA) gang has been causing chaos and terror in the U.S., and a new report by the Heritage Foundation sheds light on the organization’s origins and expansion. Authored by Joseph Humire, the report highlights the dangerous nature of TdA and the urgent need to address the threat it poses to American security.

TdA, which originated in a Venezuelan prison, has quickly become a state-sponsored transnational criminal organization with ties to the Venezuelan government. Unlike traditional gangs, TdA has an \”invasion ideology\” and aims to rapidly gain territorial control in various regions. This has led to a rapid expansion of TdA across the U.S., with a presence in over 30 major cities and numerous federal investigations underway.

The report emphasizes that TdA is much more than just a gang – it is a terrorist effort backed by America’s enemies to sow chaos and destabilize the country. With the Biden administration’s lax immigration policies, Venezuelan migrants are entering the U.S. in large numbers, providing TdA with an opportunity to establish a foothold in the country.

To combat the threat posed by TdA, Humire suggests implementing an \”Operation Aurora\” that involves a whole-of-government approach. This would include federal resources from agencies like Border Patrol, ICE, and the military, as well as collaboration with Latin American allies to tackle TdA from all angles.

Humire also recommends labeling TdA as a transnational terror group and designating Venezuelan migrants as \”special interest aliens\” to better vet them and prevent TdA from infiltrating refugee populations. These measures would not only protect American citizens but also safeguard legitimate asylum seekers fleeing Venezuela.

The incoming Trump administration appears to be taking the threat posed by TdA seriously, with key appointments indicating a strong commitment to dismantling the organization. With the right political will and a comprehensive strategy in place, it is possible to derail the Tren de Aragua train before it gains further ground in the U.S.
