Israeli military says Hezbollah is smuggling weapons into Lebanon during cease-fire
Hezbollah terrorists have been accused of smuggling weapons into Lebanon despite an ongoing cease-fire agreement with Israel, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The IDF Arabic Spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, stated that Air Force fighter jets attacked military infrastructure near the border crossings between Syria and Lebanon, which Hezbollah was actively using to transfer weapons. This attack came after monitoring the transfer of combat equipment from Syria to Lebanon, even after the cease-fire agreement, posing a threat to Israel and violating the terms of the agreement.
The cease-fire between Israel and Hezbollah has been in effect for four days. However, Israeli forces remain in southern Lebanon following a ground operation launched in October. As per the cease-fire terms, these forces are expected to withdraw within the next 60 days. Despite this, Hezbollah militants are still active within Lebanon.
Adraee reported that gunmen were observed in southern Lebanon loading RPGs, ammunition boxes, and military equipment into a vehicle, which was subsequently targeted by an Israeli Air Force aircraft. Additionally, an IDF aircraft attacked a military vehicle operating within Hezbollah’s missile production infrastructure deep inside Lebanon.
Furthermore, Israeli troops uncovered combat equipment inside a mosque used by Hezbollah members in southern Lebanon, seizing rifles and grenades found at the scene. The IDF remains deployed in the region to enforce the cease-fire agreement and respond to any violations.
The situation underscores the ongoing tensions and challenges in the region, with both Israel and Hezbollah maintaining a delicate balance of power. The IDF’s actions aim to prevent the proliferation of weapons and combat equipment that could threaten Israel’s security and stability.
As the situation continues to evolve, it is crucial for all parties involved to uphold the terms of the cease-fire agreement and work towards a peaceful resolution to avoid further escalation of hostilities.
