Ohio State women’s basketball coach Kevin McGuff arrested for drunk driving

Ohio State women’s basketball coach Kevin McGuff was arrested last week for alleged drunken driving after police found him parked in his front yard and smelling of alcohol. The incident occurred when McGuff, head coach at Ohio State, took more than two minutes to open his vehicle’s door or window before refusing a Breathalyzer test and denying that he had been drinking or taken any medications that could impair his driving, according to a police report obtained by The Columbus Dispatch.

During the encounter with law enforcement, McGuff was asked to recite the alphabet from the letters D through R three times but only managed to say the letters up to D before falling silent. The arrest took place after a bystander reported seeing someone in a 2013 Toyota Sequoia driving recklessly, hitting curbs and driving through a yard. McGuff was inside the vehicle at the time of his arrest on a charge of operating a vehicle while impaired (OVI).

In response to the incident, Ohio State released a statement saying, “The university is in communication with Coach McGuff and monitoring the situation closely. This is an ongoing, personal legal matter, and the university will share additional information at the appropriate time.” McGuff, who has been Ohio State’s coach since 2013, has amassed a 224-109 record with the Buckeyes and has led the team to eight NCAA tournaments.

Despite the allegations, McGuff has a successful coaching career, having previously coached at Washington and Xavier before joining Ohio State. The university is closely monitoring the situation as it unfolds. For further updates on this developing story, stay tuned to Fox News.
