Jakob Ingebrigtsen smashes men’s 3,000m world record at Diamond League Silesia

Norwegian runner Jakob Ingebrigtsen etched his name in the record books on Sunday at a Diamond League meet in Silesia, Poland.

Ingebrigtsen won the men’s 3,000 metres event in a world-record time of seven minutes 17.55 seconds.

The time eclipses the previous mark of 7:20.67, set by Kenya’s Daniel Komen in 1996.

Ingebrigtsen’s previous personal best in the distance was 7:23.63.
