Kendrick Lamar leads BET Awards nominations with 10; Drake, The Weeknd score nods

Kendrick Lamar continues to dominate the music scene, leading the pack with 10 nominations for the upcoming BET Awards. Canadian stars Drake and The Weeknd are not far behind, with six and four nominations respectively. Lamar’s album “GNX” is up for album of the year, while his diss track “Not Like Us” received nods for video of the year and viewer’s choice award, stemming from his feud with Drake.
Speaking of Drake, he is nominated in six categories, including best male hip-hop artist, viewer’s choice award for “Nokia,” and album of the year for “$ome $exy $ongs 4 U” with PartyNextDoor. The Weeknd is also in the running for album of the year with “Hurry Up Tomorrow,” as well as best male R&B/pop artist and best collaboration with Playboi Carti.
Other notable nominees include Doechii, Future, and GloRilla, who all received six nominations each. Metro Boomin scored five nods, while SZA and The Weeknd each garnered four.
The BET Awards, celebrating its 25th anniversary, will be broadcast live on June 9 from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Kevin Hart is set to host the event, promising a night of reflection and celebration of life’s unforgettable moments.
In addition to the music categories, the awards show will pay tribute to former hosts and performances, including the iconic program “106 & Park.” The show, which aired from 2000 to 2014, was a staple of Black youth culture, featuring video countdowns, interviews, and live performances that influenced fashion and launched careers.
Past hosts of “106 & Park” will reunite for the tribute, which will include performances by Bow Wow, Amerie, B2K, and more. The show will also recognize top actors and athletes, with competitive categories for best actor, best actress, and sports stars.
With a star-studded lineup of nominees and exciting tributes planned, the 25th BET Awards is shaping up to be a memorable night honoring the best in music, entertainment, and culture.
