The attorney for Kimberly Sullivan, a woman from Waterbury, Connecticut facing multiple charges for allegedly abusing her stepson for two decades, recently spoke out in defense of his client in an interview with Fox News Digital. Ioannis Kaloidis denied that Sullivan was responsible for any abuse and expressed disagreement with the portrayal of her in the media.

Referring to bodycam footage released by the Waterbury Police Department, Kaloidis stated that the photos and videos have been misrepresented to paint Sullivan in a negative light. He mentioned that the public scrutiny and backlash against his client have taken a toll on her life, turning her into a target.

The case unfolded after authorities responded to a house fire in Waterbury where they discovered Sullivan’s emaciated stepson, who claimed he had been held captive for 20 years. He set the fire intentionally to escape. Kaloidis emphasized that this situation has been a shock to Sullivan, who previously led a quiet life.

According to the arrest warrant, the stepson was allegedly confined to a small, windowless closet without access to basic necessities for two decades. He was only given minimal food and water each day and weighed less than 70 pounds when rescued. Sullivan was subsequently arrested and charged with several offenses.

Despite the serious allegations, Kaloidis maintained that Sullivan denies imprisoning her stepson and is hopeful for vindication through the legal process. He acknowledged that there may be more details to emerge during the trial and emphasized the importance of a fair and thorough investigation.
