Houthi missile evades Israeli defenses, strikes near Tel Aviv airport

A Houthi missile struck Israeli soil near Tel Aviv’s largest airport on Sunday, prompting multiple international airlines to cancel flights to Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised retaliation for the attack and participated in several defense meetings throughout the day. The missile managed to evade both Israeli and U.S. missile defenses, as reported by Israeli media.

Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a strong warning, stating, “Whoever harms us, we will strike them sevenfold.” Lufthansa, Swiss, and Air Europa were among the airlines that canceled flights to Israel, with plans to resume service on Monday.

The missile strike resulted in at least 8 injuries, none of which were life-threatening. Israel has not yet confirmed any specific military response. Over the weekend, the Israeli Air Force conducted strikes on over 100 terror targets in the Gaza Strip, targeting terrorist cells, tunnels, underground infrastructure sites, and other military facilities.

IDF troops operating in southern Gaza discovered weapons caches, dismantled terrorist infrastructure sites, and eliminated several terrorists. The missile attack came shortly after Israel had to cancel its independence day celebrations due to wildfires spreading across the country.

Massive wildfires near Jerusalem led to road closures and mass evacuations, disrupting the traditional torch-lighting ceremony. Instead, footage of the rehearsal ceremony was broadcasted. Jerusalem District Fire Department Commander Shmulik Friedman described the wildfires as potentially the largest ever in the country, warning of high winds exacerbating the situation.

The situation remains volatile, with Israel still battling the fires. The integration of the rewritten content into a WordPress platform ensures a seamless transition for readers.
