Dozens arrested in major border state bust targeting bloodthirsty Venezuelan gang

Law enforcement in Hays County, Texas, made a significant breakthrough on Tuesday morning by arresting over 40 individuals suspected of having ties to the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua. The Texas Department of Public Safety announced this major operation, which was the result of intelligence gathered by the FBI San Antonio about a possible gathering of TdA members or associates in the area.
The collaborative effort between various law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, DPS, and federal, state, and local partners, has been ongoing for more than a year to investigate suspected Tren de Aragua members. The successful execution of a search warrant at a residence in Hays County led to the arrests, with charges pending further investigation by Texas and U.S. authorities. Minors were also taken into custody during the operation, and drug seizures were reported as a result of the search warrant.
The news of the arrests was met with praise from Texas officials, with Rep. Tony Gonzales commending the federal anti-gang task forces for their work. Texas DPS press secretary Sheridan Nolen also expressed pride in the collaborative effort to keep Texans safe and combat Tren de Aragua.
The Trump administration had designated Tren de Aragua as a foreign terrorist organization, leading to intensified efforts to apprehend suspected members. Many individuals with alleged ties to the gang have been detained, with some being transferred to a prison in El Salvador and others held at Guantanamo Bay. The recent designation of TdA and MS-13 as Foreign Terrorist Organizations by President Biden aims to enhance the safety of American communities by preventing these criminals from causing further harm.
As the legal battle continues between the Trump administration and U.S. District Court Judge James Boasberg over using the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 for removals, the recent operation in Hays County underscores the ongoing efforts to combat organized crime and ensure the safety of communities. The arrests made in Texas serve as a testament to the dedication and collaboration of law enforcement agencies in protecting the public from criminal elements.
