WINNIPEG — The community of Hollow Water First Nation in Manitoba is reeling after a devastating incident involving 26-year-old Tyrone Simard, who police say killed his sister and attacked several others with a knife.

Court records reveal that Simard was out on bail at the time of the incident, facing charges of assault with a weapon and mischief for alleged offences that occurred on June 8. Despite being granted release on June 12 with strict conditions, including a curfew and a ban on drugs, alcohol, and weapons, tragedy struck on the First Nation.

Tragic Events Unfold

According to RCMP reports, Simard stabbed eight people at two homes on the First Nation, resulting in the death of his 18-year-old sister and leaving the others hospitalized. The situation escalated further as Simard fled in a stolen vehicle, ultimately colliding with an RCMP cruiser in a fatal highway crash.
