Carlos Alcaraz dominates Novak Djokovic to reach U.S. Open final

Carlos Alcaraz Defeats Novak Djokovic to Reach U.S. Open Final
Carlos Alcaraz utilized his youth, athleticism, and creativity to secure a victory against the highly accomplished, but much older, Novak Djokovic. The 22-year-old defeated the 24-time major champion 6-4, 7-6 (4), 6-2 at the U.S. Open on Friday, earning a spot in his third consecutive Grand Slam final.
Djokovic’s Semifinal Exit
By the end of the match, Djokovic appeared resigned to the result. The 38-year-old Serbian reached the semifinals at all four Grand Slam tournaments this season but was unable to advance past that round on each occasion.
Alcaraz’s Path to the Final
As the No. 2 seed, Alcaraz’s victory sets him up to face either No. 1 Jannik Sinner or No. 25 Felix Auger-Aliassime in the championship match on Sunday, a match that President Donald Trump plans to attend.
This marks Alcaraz’s sixth major title, with his previous victory coming at the French Open in June. He also faced Sinner at Wimbledon in July, where he experienced defeat.
Sinner’s Chance at History
Sinner has the opportunity to become the first repeat men’s champion at the U.S. Open since Roger Federer’s five-year reign from 2004 to 2008.
Alcaraz and Sinner Dominance
Alcaraz, at 22, and Sinner, at 24, have been dominant in the recent major championships, collectively winning the last seven titles and nine of the last 12. Djokovic, who has won the other three titles in that span, including the 2023 U.S. Open, was once again denied his 25th major championship.
