Nova Scotia’s SIRT opens investigation into Halifax police arrest, injuries

DARTMOUTH, N.S. — Nova Scotia’s police watchdog is investigating an Oct. 20. arrest in Dartmouth during which the suspect suffered an injury.

The Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) said Halifax Regional Police, responding to a wanted man in a taxi, located the vehicle and tried to stop it, only to have the suspect flee from the moving vehicle.

A foot chase ensued, and SIRT said the suspect suffered injuries to his face during the arrest, prompting their investigation.
