Canadian golfer Myles Creighton 15th player to shoot 59 or lower on Korn Ferry Tour

Myles Creighton, a Canadian golfer, made history at the Wichita Open by chipping in for birdie on the 18th hole to shoot a 59, becoming the 15th player to achieve a score of 59 or lower on the Korn Ferry Tour. This remarkable feat came just two days after Adrien Dumont de Chassart also carded a 59 in the opening round of the tournament at Crestview Country Club in Kansas.

Creighton, a native of Digby, N.S., had an exceptional round with 12 birdies and just one bogey on a day marked by challenging wind conditions gusting up to 61 kilometers per hour. The course at Crestview spans 6,910 yards and plays to a par of 70, with the par 5s measuring just over 500 yards and some of the par 4s coming in at under 350 yards.

This is the second time in the past two years that two players have posted sub-60 rounds in the same week on the Korn Ferry Tour. Cristobal Del Solar of Chile set the tour record with a 57 at the Astara Golf Championship in Colombia, followed by Aldrich Potgieter of South Africa shooting a 59 the next day. Despite their impressive performances, neither player went on to win the tournament.

In total, there have been 18 sub-60 rounds recorded on tours around the world since 2023, including a 59 by Jake Knapp on the PGA Tour earlier this year at the Cognizant Classic.

After his historic round, the 29-year-old Creighton found himself tied for the lead with Quade Cummins at 15-under 195. Dumont de Chassart, on the other hand, was tied for 17th at 8 under par following his opening 59, with subsequent rounds of 70 and 73.
