Pence vows to be ‘voice against’ President Trump’s moves away from ‘conservative agenda’

Former Vice President Mike Pence may no longer hold power in the White House, but he certainly does not feel powerless. In an exclusive interview with Fox News, Pence made it clear that he plans to be a vocal critic of the GOP if former President Donald Trump strays from the conservative agenda that defined their administration.
During his time as vice president, Pence was a staunch supporter of traditional conservative values, including strong defense, American leadership on the world stage, lower taxes, and the protection of traditional moral values. He praised Trump for his historic victory in the 2020 election and for his efforts to secure the southern border, restore morale in the military, and take on the Houthis.
However, Pence expressed concern about some of the steps that Trump is taking that deviate from the conservative agenda. He emphasized the need to oppose any proposals to raise taxes on the wealthy, arguing that it would be harmful to small business owners across America. Instead, Pence advocated for making the Trump-Pence tax cuts permanent to stimulate economic growth.
As a proponent of a muscular U.S. foreign policy, Pence criticized Trump’s upending of longstanding foreign policy norms and urged the president to stand with international allies, particularly Ukraine. Despite his efforts to push for a conservative platform, Pence’s bid for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination fell short, leading him to suspend his campaign after just four and a half months.
When asked about his political future, Pence left it up to the American people, stating that he intends to continue being a voice for traditional and conservative values. He also emphasized the importance of upholding the Constitution and expressed hope that all elected officials, regardless of party affiliation, would prioritize their oath to defend the Constitution.
Pence was recently honored with the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award for his actions on January 6, 2021, when he fulfilled his constitutional duties during the attack on the U.S. Capitol. Despite facing threats and danger, Pence remained steadfast in upholding the democratic principles of free and fair elections.
In his acceptance speech, Pence expressed gratitude for the award and reaffirmed his commitment to defending the Constitution. He highlighted the common ground that the American people share in their support for the Constitution, despite any political differences.
Overall, Pence’s interview and acceptance of the Profile in Courage Award underscore his unwavering dedication to conservative principles and his belief in upholding the Constitution. While his future political aspirations remain uncertain, Pence’s legacy as a defender of traditional values and democratic norms is sure to endure.
