Pennsylvania man charged with threatening Trump

A Pennsylvania man, Shawn Monper, has been charged with making threats against President Donald Trump, other U.S. officials, and U.S. Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) officials, as reported by the U.S. Department of Justice. Monper, 32, resides in Butler, Pennsylvania, where the president was shot during a campaign rally last July.
The arrest of Monper was a result of the diligent investigative work carried out by the FBI and the Butler Township Police Department. Their swift actions prevented Monper from carrying out any threats against President Trump’s life and the lives of other innocent Americans. Attorney General Pamela Bondi commended the efforts of the law enforcement agencies involved in identifying and apprehending Monper before any harm could be done.
Bondi emphasized the Department of Justice’s commitment to swiftly responding to threats of assassination or mass violence. The department will spare no effort in locating, arresting, and prosecuting individuals who pose such threats to the fullest extent of the law. The goal is to ensure the safety and security of the President and all American citizens.
