Quebec judge authorizes class action against billionaire Robert Miller

A Quebec Superior Court judge has given the green light for a class action lawsuit against billionaire Robert Miller, the founder of Future Electronics, and several alleged accomplices for their involvement in a juvenile prostitution ring. The lawsuit, brought forth by three women who claim to have been victims of this system, alleges that minors were paid for sex over a span of several years.
According to Judge Catherine Piché’s decision, the case involves approximately 100 minors who were recruited with the help of several employees of Future Electronics. The plaintiffs, who were between the ages of 11 and 17 at the time, assert that they were victims of this organized prostitution network.
Lawyer Jeff Orenstein, representing the plaintiffs, revealed that 51 alleged victims had already come forward, with potential damages exceeding $150 million. The women involved in the lawsuit were as young as 11 when they were first subjected to these heinous acts.
Due to his deteriorating health from Parkinson’s disease, Miller has not appeared in court. His lawyers have requested that he be questioned in writing, a process that has already commenced. In addition to the class action lawsuit, Miller is facing 24 criminal charges brought by Quebec’s director of criminal and penal prosecutions.
The alleged accomplices named in the lawsuit include Sam Joseph Abrams, Raymond Poulet, and Helmut Lippmann. Despite Miller’s denial of the allegations and opposition to the lawsuit, a judge has ordered the seizure of two of his properties in connection with individual complaints of abuse.
One of the plaintiffs, whose identity is protected, expressed relief and hope for justice to be served. Orenstein welcomed the judge’s decision, stating that it paves the way for justice for the victims.
Miller’s lawyers did not respond to requests for comment, and the accused continues to maintain his innocence. During a hearing in November, his lawyer argued that Miller has the right to know the identities of his accusers in order to present a complete defense.
The case against Robert Miller and his alleged involvement in a juvenile prostitution ring has garnered significant attention and is a stark reminder of the importance of holding individuals accountable for their actions. As the legal proceedings unfold, justice for the victims remains at the forefront of this complex and troubling case.
