RCMP investigating suspicious death of 40-year-old Paq’tnken man

ANTIGONISH, N.S. — The sudden death of a 40-year-old Paq’tnkek man has sparked a police investigation in the community on Sunday.

Shortly before 3 a.m., Antigonish County District RCMP were called to a report of a sudden death at a home on Petow Loop Extension in Paq’tnkek.

Later that morning, a 27-year-old Paq’tnkek man, known to the victim, was arrested at the scene without incident and is currently in custody.

Police do not believe this was a random act and said there is no risk to the public.

The investigation, led by the Northeast Nova RCMP major crime unit, is ongoing and being assisted by the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner’s Service and RCMP forensic identification section.
