RCMP search for missing boater in lake northeast of Halifax

Man Missing After Boat Capsizes in Cousins Lake
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have launched a search for a 58-year-old man who went missing on Thursday at Cousins Lake, located northeast of Halifax. The incident occurred when two men were riding in a four-metre boat on the lake, and the boat struck something in the water, causing it to capsize.
One of the men, a 50-year-old from Truro, managed to swim to shore and call for help. He was then taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. However, the 58-year-old man remains unaccounted for, prompting a search and rescue operation by the RCMP and ground crews in the area.
RCMP Cpl. Guy Tremblay emphasized the challenging conditions that search teams are facing, with frigid water temperatures and subzero weather conditions. Tremblay noted that the use of a drone and the request for a helicopter have been instrumental in the search efforts.
The RCMP and search and rescue teams are working tirelessly to locate the missing man and ensure his safe return. Updates on the search operation will be provided as more information becomes available.
