RFK Jr. ‘wrong’ about vaccinations, GOP senator says

Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La., recently expressed his disagreement with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on the issue of vaccinations during an interview on “Fox News Sunday.” Kennedy, who has been tapped by President-elect Donald Trump to serve as the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) secretary, has a differing opinion on vaccinations than Cassidy.

Cassidy, a gastroenterologist who will soon be chairing the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, stated that while he agrees with Kennedy on some matters, he firmly believes that Kennedy is “wrong” about vaccinations. Despite their disagreements, Cassidy mentioned that he is looking forward to meeting with Kennedy in the upcoming week to discuss their differing perspectives.

When asked if he plans to vote against confirming Kennedy to HHS due to their disagreement on vaccines, Cassidy’s spokesman responded by stating that Cassidy does not discuss his votes before meeting with the nominees and letting the Senate process unfold. The spokesman added that Cassidy intends to address the topic with Kennedy during their meeting and hopes to engage in a productive dialogue on the issue.

Kennedy, when contacted by Fox News Digital for a response to Cassidy’s remarks, declined to comment on the matter. However, he has previously emphasized that he does not aim to prevent individuals from receiving vaccines. In a tweet from last year, Kennedy stated, “Bottom line: I’m not going to take anyone’s vaccines away from them. I just want to be sure every American knows the safety profile, the risk profile, and the efficacy of each vaccine. That’s it.”

As discussions surrounding Kennedy’s nomination continue, it is evident that Cassidy and Kennedy hold differing viewpoints on vaccinations. Regardless of their disagreements, both individuals are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of Americans in the realm of healthcare. Stay tuned for further developments on this topic.
