Rope hung in tree at Africville Park in Halifax, police investigating

HALIFAX, N.S. — Halifax police are investigating what they consider to be a hate-motivated incident at Africville Park after receiving a report about a rope hung in a tree.

Police were alerted to the incident just before 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. The rope was removed before officers arrived, but photos of the rope and its location led investigators to say the rope was meant to be a noose.

Investigators ask anyone with information or video from the area to call police at 902-490-5020 or tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
