Sculpture depicting iconic Trump assassination attempt displayed in Oval Office

A stunning bronze sculpture depicting the dramatic assassination attempt on President Donald Trump in Butler, PA, last year was prominently displayed in the Oval Office on Friday. The powerful piece of symbolic art, standing at least two feet tall, was positioned next to Trump’s Resolute Desk as he signed a series of executive orders in front of the press.

The sculpture captures the harrowing moment when then-candidate Trump was being swiftly removed from the stage by three Secret Service agents, including the current agency director, Sean Curran, after an assailant, Thomas Matthew Crooks, fired several shots from a nearby rooftop at the Butler Farm Show Grounds on July 13. Trump, reacting quickly, ducked to the ground as the bullets flew, and was then helped to his feet by the agents.

In a poignant gesture, Trump turned to the crowd, raising his clenched fist in the air, and famously shouted, “Fight! Fight! Fight!” despite being grazed by a bullet, with blood dripping from his ear. This iconic image quickly went viral, becoming a defining moment of the 2024 presidential election, symbolizing Trump’s resilience, bravery, and unwavering spirit. The event served to galvanize his base and rally support behind his campaign.

The sculpture itself is rendered in dark bronze tones, with a somber Old Glory flag draped vertically in the background, adding to the intense emotion conveyed by the artwork. While the White House did not provide a specific reason for the statue’s presence that day, it is believed to be a maquette of a larger nine-foot replica currently in the works by artist Stan Watts of the Trump Statue Project.

The Trump Statue Project aims to honor the president by immortalizing this pivotal moment in American history, embodying themes of confidence, strength, and hope. The proposed nine-foot statue will serve as a lasting symbol of divine intervention and Trump’s message of unity and resilience, reflecting the values that America stands for.

Watts, known for his exceptional work, has previously created statues of prominent figures such as founding fathers John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson, as well as tributes to Martin Luther King Jr. and the heroic 9/11 firefighters. Last year, another local artist, Bill Secunda, created a life-sized sculpture of Trump made entirely out of nails to commemorate the failed assassination attempt.

The presence of this remarkable sculpture in the Oval Office serves as a poignant reminder of the strength and determination displayed by President Trump in the face of adversity. It stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of America and the resilience of its leaders.
