New Orleans suspect set fire at rental property

The FBI and ATF have disclosed new information regarding the deadly terrorist attack that occurred on New Year’s Day in New Orleans. According to a joint statement released by the agencies, the perpetrator, 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar, set fire to his rental property in an attempt to destroy bomb-making evidence before carrying out the attack.
The agencies revealed that Jabbar ignited a small fire in the hallway of his Airbnb rental before the attack, strategically placing accelerants throughout the house to destroy evidence of his crime. Fortunately, the fire burned itself out before spreading to other rooms, allowing the FBI to recover crucial evidence from the property. Among the items recovered were precursors for bomb-making material and a device suspected to be a silencer for a rifle.
Furthermore, it was discovered that Jabbar had placed two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) along Bourbon Street, where the attack took place. Although he did not manage to detonate the explosives before his death, it was determined that he intended to use a transmitter found in his truck to set them off during the attack.
The latest update from the agencies confirms that all evidence collection at both the Airbnb rental and Bourbon Street has been completed. The gathered evidence is currently being evaluated to further the investigation into the tragic incident.
It is important to note that the terrorist attacks in Las Vegas and New Orleans are not linked, as confirmed by the police. The FBI and ATF continue to work diligently to uncover the motives behind Jabbar’s actions and bring justice to the victims of this senseless act of violence.
