Speed limit to be lowered in Mineville and Lawrencetown

HALIFAX, N.S. — The speed limit will be reduced in the area of Mineville and Lawrencetown starting this week.

The Halifax Regional Municipality is changing the speed limit between Highway 7 in East Preston/Lake Echo and Civic 823, reducing the limit to 50 km/h from the existing 70 km/h.

The speed limit from Civic 1081 to Lawrencetown Road will also be lowered to 70 km/h from the existing 80 km/h.

Crews will be posting the new signage this week.

The change follows an assessment of the corridor and is related to changes in conditions and activities along the roadway.

The government said the adjustment aims to reduce fatal and injury collisions on municipal roadways under the Strategic Road Safety Plan.
