Study reveals ‘staggering’ scope of how much DEI was infused into Biden admin

A recent study published this week sheds light on the extensive incorporation of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies within the federal government under the Biden administration. The report, conducted by the Functional Government Initiative and the Center for Renewing America, identified a total of 460 programs spread across 24 government agencies that allocated resources towards DEI initiatives, amounting to at least $1 trillion of taxpayer money.
The study detailed the various ways in which DEI principles were infused into different federal agencies. For instance, the Defense Department focused on integrating environmental and economic justice tools into training, FEMA aimed to instill equity as a foundational aspect of emergency management, and the Labor Department sought to embed equity in a sustainable manner while recognizing the diverse identities held by workers.
Upon assuming office, President Joe Biden signed Executive Order 13985, which aimed to advance equity and racial justice within the federal government. This directive led to a significant increase in DEI-related spending, with the cumulative budget of these programs exceeding $1.1 trillion over the course of four years.
The study highlighted that 10 programs were exclusively dedicated to DEI and could be swiftly eliminated, while 144 programs allocated substantial resources to DEI initiatives and should be reviewed for potential termination. Additionally, 306 programs incorporated DEI to varying degrees, necessitating further assessment of their impact.
Wade Miller, a senior adviser at the Center for Renewing America, emphasized the need to eliminate DEI entirely from the federal government, pointing to the Trump administration’s ongoing audit of government programs as a crucial step in this direction. The study provides recommendations for addressing DEI programs within each department and offers resources for identifying and removing DEI practices from government operations.
Roderick Law, a spokesman for the Functional Government Initiative, underscored the divisive and anti-American nature of DEI, advocating for its removal from various government sectors. The Trump administration has prioritized the eradication of DEI from the federal bureaucracy, signing executive orders aimed at addressing what it perceives as a harmful practice that undermines meritocracy.
Efforts to reach out to the Biden administration for comment on the study were unsuccessful. The study serves as a comprehensive resource for understanding the extent of DEI infusion in the federal government and provides valuable insights for policymakers seeking to address and eliminate DEI practices from government operations.
