A man believed to be a citizen of Bangladesh was apprehended in Mumbai, India’s financial capital, on Sunday in connection with the stabbing of Bollywood superstar Saif Ali Khan. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, sent shockwaves through the film industry and the local community, prompting calls for improved policing and security measures. Fortunately, Khan, one of India’s most sought-after actors, is now in stable condition after undergoing surgery for multiple stab wounds.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Dixit Gedam, the suspect, who was using the alias Vijay Das, is suspected to be Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, an illegal immigrant from Bangladesh who had been working with a housekeeping agency in Mumbai for the past five to six months. The police are planning to request custody of the suspect for further interrogation.

The attack took place at Khan’s residence, where he was confronted by an intruder during a burglary attempt. Thanks to the swift medical intervention, Khan is now out of immediate danger.

Medical professionals involved in Khan’s treatment revealed that the injuries were severe, with the knife coming dangerously close to his spine. The actor narrowly escaped a more catastrophic outcome by a mere two millimeters. The police have already apprehended two key suspects in connection with the incident, indicating progress in the ongoing investigation.
