Canada’s Auger-Aliassime fights back to reach Dubai final, chance for 3rd title of 2025

Montreal’s Felix Auger-Aliassime continues his impressive run in the 2025 season as he advances to his third final of the year at the Dubai Tennis Championships. The 24-year-old Canadian defeated French qualifier Quentin Halys in a hard-fought semifinal match, winning 5-7, 6-4, 6-3.
Auger-Aliassime, who has already clinched titles in Adelaide and Montpellier earlier this year, showed his resilience in the match against Halys. Despite facing three set points in the opening set, he managed to turn the tide in his favor by breaking Halys’ serve at a crucial moment in the second set. The Canadian player showcased his strong performance by converting four out of seven break-point opportunities and saving both break points he faced in the deciding set.
With 10 aces to his name, Auger-Aliassime displayed his dominance on the court against Halys. Reflecting on his tough victory, he mentioned the importance of positive self-talk and staying mentally strong during challenging moments.
The win marked Auger-Aliassime’s 16th victory of the season, making him the player with the most wins on the Tour so far in 2025. Despite feeling fatigued from his previous tournament in Doha, where he reached the semifinals, Auger-Aliassime expressed his confidence in finding solutions to win crucial points in matches.
In the upcoming final, Auger-Aliassime will face Stefanos Tsitsipas, the 11th-ranked player from Greece. The two players have a history of competitive matchups, with Tsitsipas holding a 6-3 lead in their head-to-head encounters. Tsitsipas secured his spot in the final by defeating Tallon Griekspoor in straight sets in the other semifinal match.
The final showdown between Auger-Aliassime and Tsitsipas promises to be a thrilling battle between two talented players. Fans can expect an exciting match as they vie for the Dubai Tennis Championships title. Be sure to tune in to witness the action-packed final on Saturday.
