RCMP says two children have died in separate drownings in Manitoba

WINNIPEG – Two children have died in separate drownings in northern Manitoba.
RCMP says last Thursday a 23-month-old boy was found in a lake outside his family’s home in Garden Hill First Nation.
The Mounties say the boy was in the care of older siblings at the time and died three days later in a hospital in Winnipeg.
On Sunday, police responded to a drowning in St. Theresa Point First Nation, about 15 miles away.
They say two 10-year-old girls swam too far, and one was rescued by a bystander.
A security guard in scuba gear found the other girl and she was pronounced dead at the local nursing station.
