FBI arrests Houston man for alleged ISIS ties, terror plot on US soil

A Texas man is currently in FBI custody after authorities uncovered his plans to support ISIS and carry out a terrorist attack on American soil. Anas Said, a 28-year-old resident of Houston, was apprehended last week at his apartment complex where he resided.
According to FBI Special Agent in Charge Douglas Williams, Said was actively seeking ways to engage in violent activities on behalf of the Islamic State within the Houston area. He now faces charges for attempting to provide material support to the terrorist organization.
During his interrogation, Said confessed to researching methods for attacking local military recruiting centers, offering his home as a safe haven for ISIS operatives, expressing intentions to carry out a “9/11-style” attack if he had the necessary resources, and even attempting to create ISIS propaganda.
In a statement, FBI Houston emphasized the successful prevention of a potential terrorist attack within the city, declaring, “We stopped a potential terrorist attack from happening right here in Houston! Any day we can publicly say that is a good day.”
As this is an ongoing investigation, updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
The arrest of Anas Said serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing threat posed by individuals who are radicalized and seek to carry out acts of violence in the name of extremist ideologies. The vigilance and swift action of law enforcement agencies play a crucial role in safeguarding communities from such threats.
