Kanye West’s X account goes dark after antisemitic rants. Now his website is selling Nazi merch

Less than a week after musician Kanye West started blasting his 34 million social media followers with a series of offensive and hateful posts, his X account appears to have been deactivated. West, also known as Ye, has faced a significant backlash in recent years due to his antisemitic statements and controversial actions. His latest tirade included misogynistic, racist, and antisemitic remarks targeting musicians Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar during the Super Bowl.
West criticized Swift for singing along to Lamar’s halftime show, claiming that Lamar was being used by “white people and Jews” and that he himself was also being exploited. He also called for Lamar to use his platform to advocate for the release of rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is facing serious criminal charges. Following these disturbing posts, X owner Elon Musk unfollowed Ye and classified his account as “NSFW” (not safe for work), indicating that the content was inappropriate.
After facing backlash and accusations of posting “literal porn on the timeline,” West bid farewell to Twitter and his account went dark. His former account now displays a message stating that it does not exist, with all past posts removed. It remains unclear whether Ye was banned or chose to deactivate his account.
In another troubling development, Ye’s merchandise website, Yeezy.com, was found to be selling T-shirts featuring swastikas, a symbol associated with the German Nazi party and hate groups. The Anti-Defamation League condemned the sale of these shirts, pointing out that the code HH-01 used for the item is a reference to “Heil Hitler.” The shirt was still available for purchase on the website, despite calls for its removal.
Ye has a history of offensive and antisemitic remarks, including praising Adolf Hitler, downplaying the Holocaust, and making derogatory comments about Jewish people. He has faced consequences for his behavior in the past, including being locked out of social media platforms and losing partnerships with major brands like Adidas. His recent actions have sparked outrage and concern, with many calling for accountability and action to prevent the spread of hate speech.
As the controversy surrounding Kanye West continues to unfold, it serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of unchecked bigotry and the importance of combating hate in all its forms. It is crucial for platforms like X to take a stand against harmful rhetoric and promote a safe and inclusive online environment for all users.
