Marjorie Taylor Greene shares what’s next for her DOGE subcommittee

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., is wasting no time in planning future hearings for her new subcommittee panel, which mirrors Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). After the subcommittee’s first public event, Greene informed reporters that the upcoming hearings would focus on the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and media outlets NPR and PBS.

Elon Musk, who previously led President Donald Trump’s DOGE advisory team, has also taken aim at NPR and USAID. Greene emphasized the importance of shedding light on various government programs to provide transparency to the American people. She stated, “We’re working on filling the calendar with many more important issues, departments, government programs that the American people deserve direct, hard transparency into. And then we’re going to be coming up with solutions.”

When asked if Elon Musk would be a part of any upcoming hearings, Greene dismissed the idea, suggesting that Democrats might use his presence to attack and harass him. She expressed the need for Musk to focus on addressing waste, fraud, and abuse within federal government agencies.

Greene mentioned that a report detailing the findings from the first hearing, which analyzed government spending in relation to the $36 trillion national debt, would be released in a matter of days. The report aims to highlight key insights and propose actionable solutions to be implemented by Congress promptly.

During the two-hour hearing, Democratic attempts to shift the focus onto Elon Musk were met with criticism from Republican lawmakers in the room. Rep. Eric Burlison, R-Mo., called out the Democrats for resorting to ad hominem attacks and diverting attention from the issues at hand.

Rep. Michael Cloud, R-Texas, dismissed concerns about Democrats using attacks on Musk as a potent strategy, stating that the American people want to see significant changes in how the federal government operates.

The DOGE subcommittee, operating under the House Oversight Committee, marks Greene’s first committee gavel. The commitment to transparency and accountability in government operations is evident in the subcommittee’s agenda.

As the politics reporter for Fox News Digital covering the House of Representatives, I will continue to provide updates on the progress and impact of Greene’s subcommittee hearings. Stay tuned for more developments on this important initiative.
