MS-13 linked Salvadoran deported under Trump returns to face charges

A Salvadoran national who was deported under the Trump administration is now making headlines as he is on his way back to the United States to face criminal charges. Kilmar Abrego Garcia, 29, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Tennessee for his alleged involvement in a conspiracy to transport illegal migrants, including individuals associated with the violent MS-13 gang, across the country.

According to court documents, Abrego Garcia is accused of orchestrating the transportation of illegal immigrants from Texas to interior states as part of an organized operation that spanned over a decade. The indictment, which was filed under seal last month, includes two felony counts related to the alleged trafficking scheme.

In a shocking turn of events, Tennessee Highway Patrol bodycam footage from a 2022 traffic stop revealed troopers pulling over Garcia for speeding, only to discover eight other men in his vehicle. Suspicious of his activities, one trooper remarked, “He’s hauling these people for money.” Further investigation uncovered $1,400 in cash and a gang/terrorism alert linked to Garcia in the National Crime Information Center database. Despite contacting ICE, the agency failed to respond to the scene.

The controversy surrounding Abrego Garcia intensified in March when he was deported to El Salvador, a move that sparked outrage among some politicians on the Left. However, the Trump administration justified the deportation citing Abrego Garcia’s alleged ties to MS-13, a claim that his lawyers vehemently deny.

Recent reports indicate that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has been actively involved in coordinating Garcia’s return to U.S. custody with El Salvador’s President Bukele. Following his deportation, Abrego Garcia was reportedly sent to the notorious CECOT mega-prison in El Salvador, despite a previous court order in 2019 that temporarily blocked his removal due to fears of persecution.
