Conservative group once at odds with Trump to ‘work closely’ with him in 2026 primaries

The Club for Growth, a prominent conservative organization known for its advocacy of fiscally conservative policies, is gearing up for the 2026 election cycle with plans to increase its political investments and align closely with former President Donald Trump and his political team.
In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Club for Growth President David McIntosh expressed the organization’s ambition to expand its influence and support candidates who align with Trump’s agenda. McIntosh highlighted the importance of Trump’s endorsement in determining which candidates the Club would support, emphasizing the need for candidates who prioritize free market principles and limited government conservatism.
The Club for Growth Action super PAC, the political arm of the organization, raised $163 million in the 2024 election cycle and secured victories in 73% of the races where it made political investments. Looking ahead to 2026, McIntosh stressed the importance of funding from donors to support the Club’s efforts to strengthen Republican majorities in Congress.
Despite a rocky history with Trump, the Club for Growth has reconciled with the former president and is now working closely with his political team on policy initiatives such as tax cuts and school choice legislation. The organization is planning an eight-figure federal advocacy campaign to promote pro-growth, free-market policies, with a focus on expanding and permanently codifying Trump’s tax cuts.
In addition to its advocacy work, the Club for Growth is hosting its annual donor retreat in Palm Beach, Florida, where top Republican politicians and conservative figures will gather to discuss strategy and network with donors. Notable attendees include Senators Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Marsha Blackburn, Rand Paul, Tim Scott, Rick Scott, and freshman lawmaker Bernie Moreno. House Speaker Mike Johnson and Representatives Byron Donalds and Nancy Mace are also expected to attend, along with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.
As the Club for Growth ramps up its efforts for the 2026 election cycle, the organization is poised to play a significant role in shaping the future of the Republican Party and advancing conservative policies at the federal level.
