Texas firefighter pulls toddler from burning building

A heroic Texas firefighter made a daring early morning rescue on Sunday, pulling a trapped toddler from a burning apartment building. The dramatic rescue was captured on video, showing the firefighter, identified as “J. Head” from the North Hood County Volunteer Fire Department’s Engine 26, saving 2-year-old Liam Keen from a second-story bedroom in Granbury.

The fire was reported to Hood County 911 around 12:50 a.m., prompting firefighters to rush to the scene on Parkwood Lane. Upon arrival, they were briefed on the situation and immediately sprang into action.

“We got a 2-year-old on the second floor,” a firefighter can be heard saying as they assessed the situation.

Members of the Granbury Volunteer Fire Department’s Engine 1 quickly brought a ladder to the window where Liam was trapped. With incredible bravery, Head climbed the ladder, broke the glass, and successfully rescued the young boy, who was guided by the voices of the firefighters.

“He’s screaming, he’s crying; that’s good,” noted one firefighter as Head descended the ladder with Liam in his arms.

Following the rescue, Liam was taken to an ambulance for treatment before being airlifted to Cook Children’s hospital in Fort Worth for further care. According to a Facebook post, Liam’s mother, Phylicia Keen, reported that his chest X-rays and blood work came back good, although he did suffer from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Expressing tearful gratitude for the firefighters’ heroic efforts, Phylicia Keen thanked them from the bottom of her heart for saving her baby so quickly. She acknowledged the selfless dedication of the firefighters, emphasizing that they don’t receive enough credit for their courageous actions.
