Halifax Man Charged with Child Luring Following Tip from U.S. Center

A Halifax-area man has found himself in hot water after being charged with child luring, thanks to a tip received from the U.S. National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The tip, which came in on May 21, alleged that the suspect had been using social media to engage in inappropriate conversations about sexual activities with a 10-year-old American girl.

According to Halifax Regional Police, their investigation revealed that the suspect and the young girl had been communicating online since January 2025, using platforms such as Snapchat and Slowly.

Investigators claim that the man had been posing as a 15-year-old boy and had even gone so far as to send the girl handwritten letters and gifts.

The investigation was a joint effort between the Halifax Integrated Child Exploitation Unit and the Lakeshore Regional Child Advocacy Center in Wisconsin.

On Thursday, authorities executed a search warrant at a residence in Dartmouth, N.S., where they seized electronic devices and firearms.

The suspect was arrested without incident and has been charged with luring a child under 16, making child pornography, and five offences related to firearms.
