Trio arrested after $20K in tools stolen from Springhill construction site

SPRINGHILL, N.S. — Two men and one woman have been charged with theft-related offences after a break-in at a Springhill, N.S. construction site.

On Jan. 22, Cumberland County District RCMP responded to a reported break-in on Princess Street where thieves made off with nearly $20,000 worth of tools — multiple hand tools, battery chargers, a table saw and a compressor.

Two days later, following a tip from the public, the stolen items were identified online through a Facebook Marketplace ad, leading to officers executing a search warrant at a McDougall Street residence where they found the tools and arrested a man and a woman.

Steven Donaldson, 30, and Amy Rogers, 37, have been charged with possession of property obtained by crime exceeding $5,000, unauthorized possession of a firearm and tampering with a serial number.

Police said a third person involved with the crime was not there when the search was happening but was later arrested.

Michael Ryan, 32, was also charged with possession of property obtained by crime exceeding $5,000 and trafficking property obtained by crime.
