Trump announces new ambassador nominations
President-elect Trump has made his nominations for ambassadorships, selecting Somers Farkas and John Arrigo for the prestigious positions. If confirmed, Arrigo, who currently serves as the vice president of the Arrigo Auto Group in West Palm Beach, Florida, will become the ambassador to Portugal.
“John is a highly successful entrepreneur in the automotive industry and a champion golfer. For over thirty years, he has been an incredible leader in business in West Palm Beach and is respected by all,” Trump announced on his Truth Social platform. “I have known John for a long time. He will do an incredible job for our Country and always put America FIRST.” Arrigo has a longstanding relationship with Trump, having been a longtime associate since 2021.
Farkas, a well-known model and philanthropist, has been nominated to represent American interests in Malta. She has previously served on Trump’s Commission on White House Fellowships and has a strong track record of philanthropic work, raising millions of dollars for various charitable organizations, including the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the Alzheimer’s Association, Lighthouse Guild, the New York Women’s Foundation, and the New York City Police Foundation.
The nominations of Farkas and Arrigo come at a time of transition and change in the political landscape. As the 2028 elections loom on the horizon, many are speculating about potential front-runners for the GOP, with Vance emerging as a likely candidate. However, the RNC Chair is also keeping an eye on the party’s “bench” and is looking ahead to the future of the Republican Party.
Overall, these nominations reflect Trump’s continued influence and involvement in shaping the direction of American diplomacy. As Farkas and Arrigo prepare to take on their new roles, they will undoubtedly bring their unique backgrounds and experiences to bear on strengthening America’s relationships with Portugal and Malta, respectively. The stage is set for a new chapter in American diplomacy, with these two individuals playing a key role in representing the United States on the world stage.
