Trump makes appearances at several Inaugural Balls around DC after jam-packed first day as POTUS
President Donald Trump made a grand entrance at the Commander-in-Chief Ball, arriving shortly after 10 PM ET on Monday evening. The event, which took place at the Walter Washington Convention Center in Mount Vernon Square, D.C., was a celebration geared towards service members. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump shared their first dance to a contemporary rendition of Julia Ward Howe’s iconic Civil War anthem, “Battle Hymn of the Republic.”
In his remarks to the crowd, Trump expressed gratitude for the tremendous win in the election, attributing his success to his relationship with the American people. He also praised his Pentagon chief nominee, Pete Hegseth, and emphasized the importance of his supporters in his victory.
Following the Commander-in-Chief Ball, Trump made appearances at two other balls, the Liberty Ball and the Starlight Ball, held at the Washington Convention Center and Union Station, respectively. The Liberty Ball, which included a diverse group of Trump supporters, featured musical performances by artists such as Jason Aldean, Nelly, and the Village People.
At the Liberty Ball, Trump and Melania shared another first dance, this time to “Unchained Melody” by the Righteous Brothers. The event also saw the presence of several members of the Trump family, Vice President JD Vance, and Second Lady Usha Vance, who joined in the festivities.
The balls were part of a packed day of events that included Trump’s formal swearing-in ceremony, an inaugural parade at Capital One Arena, and the signing of multiple executive orders related to border security, diversity, equity and inclusion, Jan. 6, energy and climate, and the federal workforce.
The number of executive orders signed by Trump on this day surpassed the count from his first day in office in 2017 and exceeded the number signed by President Biden on his first day in office. The eventful day culminated in a memorable celebration at the Liberty Ball, where Trump addressed the crowd and reflected on the significance of the day.
