Trump orders feds to reopen Alcatraz to house ‘ruthless and violent’ criminals

President Donald Trump has announced his plans to rebuild and reopen the notorious prison and historical landmark, Alcatraz, in San Francisco, California. In a post on Truth Social, Trump called for the prison to be enlarged and reopened to house the country’s most ruthless and violent criminals.

Trump stated, “For too long, America has been plagued by vicious, violent, and repeat Criminal Offenders, the dregs of society, who will never contribute anything other than Misery and Suffering.” He emphasized the need to lock up dangerous criminals and keep them far away from society to prevent further harm.

The president directed various government agencies, including the Bureau of Prisons, Department of Justice, FBI, and Department of Homeland Security, to reopen a “substantially enlarged and rebuilt” Alcatraz to house America’s most dangerous offenders. He stressed that the reopening of Alcatraz would symbolize law, order, and justice, and help make America great again.

Alcatraz, which opened in 1934, was known for being practically escape-proof due to its location on a 22-acre island in the San Francisco Bay. Despite this, there were 14 documented attempted escapes, with the most famous being the 1962 escape by John and Clarence Anglin and Frank Morris.

The escapees chiseled an escape route from their cells and created makeshift papier-mâché heads to fool the guards. The FBI concluded that the escapees drowned in the rough waters, but their fate remains a mystery.

Alcatraz housed notorious inmates such as gangsters James “Whitey” Bulger, Al Capone, and George “Machine Gun” Kelly, as well as Robert Stroud, the “Birdman of Alcatraz,” and Alvin Karpis, “Public Enemy No. 1.” The prison closed in 1963 due to the high cost of operating an island-based facility.

Today, Alcatraz Island is a popular tourist attraction operated by the National Park Service, drawing visitors who are intrigued by its dark history and infamous inmates. Trump’s plans to reopen and enlarge Alcatraz have sparked debate and discussion about the role of prisons in society and the treatment of violent offenders.

In conclusion, the decision to rebuild and reopen Alcatraz reflects Trump’s tough stance on crime and his commitment to ensuring public safety. Whether this plan will come to fruition remains to be seen, but the legacy of Alcatraz as a symbol of law and order continues to endure.
