Trump’s inauguration brings out sports world’s key figures
As Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 47th president of the United States, there were plenty of active and inactive professional athletes who came out in support of him. Some of these athletes were even in attendance at the historic event in Washington, D.C.
Among those athletes who braved the frigid temperatures to support the president were the Paul brothers, Jake and Logan Paul. The Paul brothers have been vocal supporters of Trump for years, with Jake endorsing him for president in late October. They were seen riding a bus to the inauguration events alongside UFC fighter Conor McGregor, who had been in D.C. the entire weekend meeting with some of Trump’s Cabinet nominees.
McGregor spoke to reporters on the red carpet at the inaugural ball, expressing his excitement and optimism for the future under Trump’s leadership. Dana White, the president of the UFC, was also spotted at the Capitol Rotunda with his wife. White had been a staunch supporter of Trump for years and spoke at his rally at the Capital One Arena the night before the inauguration.
Miriam Adelson, the majority owner of the Dallas Mavericks, was another prominent figure in attendance. The Adelson family had donated $100 million to her Preserve America political action committee in support of Trump’s presidential campaign. Wayne Gretzky, the former NHL great, was also seen at the inauguration, with Trump even touting him as the next leader of Canada.
Overall, the presence of these athletes at Trump’s inauguration highlighted their unwavering support for the president and his administration. Their attendance was a testament to the strong bond between sports and politics, as they came together to celebrate the beginning of a new era under President Trump’s leadership.
