Two people arrested after police seize drugs, weapons from home in New Minas

NEW MINAS, N.S. — Two people of New Minas are facing a slew of charges after police seized drugs and weapons from a home in the town.

RCMP said the Valley Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant at a home on Castle Loma Drive on Sept. 15.

During the search, officers have seized what they believed to be cocaine, methamphetamine, psilocybin, benzodiazepines, a conducted energy weapon, edged weapons, an airsoft rifle and cash.

Police also safely arrested a man and a woman, both of New Minas.

They were held in custody and had appeared in Kentville provincial court on Sept. 18.

Justin Dakota Wheaton, 34, has been charged with five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of restricted weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a property obtained by crime.

Gillian Leigh Anderson, 38, has been charged with five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Wheaton and Anderson are set to return to Kentville court on Sept. 26.
