Vikings lineman’s wife says she was ‘heckled, touched and called names’ during game vs Lions
Whitney Risner, the wife of Minnesota Vikings offensive lineman Dalton Risner, recently shared her experience with Detroit Lions fans at Ford Field ahead of their Sunday night matchup. Risner expressed her disappointment with the behavior of some Lions fans during last year’s game, where she faced excessive heckling and name-calling simply for supporting the Vikings.
In a video documenting her pre-game preparations, Risner revealed that she was surprised by the level of hostility she encountered as an away fan at Ford Field. She recalled how she was heckled, touched, and verbally abused by Lions fans, solely based on her team allegiance. Taylor Saunders, the girlfriend of Vikings linebacker Blake Cashman, also chimed in, claiming that some fans even went as far as wishing injuries on opposing players.
The atmosphere at Ford Field for both last year’s game and the recent matchup was described as raucous, with Detroit fans passionately supporting their team on their journey to the playoffs. The Lions clinched the No. 1 seed this season, securing home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. This marks the first time since the 1950s that the Lions have won back-to-back division titles, although the team has never made it to a Super Bowl.
As the Lions gear up for a potential playoff run, they could potentially face off against the Vikings once again. Minnesota, led by quarterback Sam Darnold, had an impressive season finishing just behind Detroit in the division standings. The rivalry between these two teams is sure to heat up as they battle it out in the postseason.
