White House unleashes on ‘rogue bureaucrats’ resisting Trump’s DOGE order

The White House has taken aim at what they are calling “rogue bureaucrats” at a small federal agency for their actions in attempting to block members of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) from entering their headquarters this week. Elon Musk’s DOGE team, along with acting head of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Peter Marocco, were denied entry into the U.S. African Development Foundation (USADF) building on Wednesday after allegedly being locked out by staff members.
In line with President Donald Trump’s executive order to streamline the federal government, the DOGE team returned to USADF the following day with U.S. marshals, as the Department of Justice (DOJ) determined they had the right to enter the building. This move prompted a lawsuit from USADF President Ward Brehm, who sought a district court order to prevent the administration from removing him from his position.
Brehm, who admitted to instructing employees to deny entry to DOGE, is now trying to prevent DOGE from accessing the USADF offices. The White House has responded by stating that “entitled, rogue bureaucrats have no authority to defy executive orders by the President of the United States or physically bar his representatives from entering the agencies they oversee.”
President Trump signed an executive order to reduce the federal bureaucracy, leading to the downsizing of USADF to its statutory minimum and appointing Peter Marocco as acting Chairman of the Board. The lawsuit filed by Brehm alleges “unlawful overreach” from DOGE and seeks to secure his position as President of USADF despite the appointment of Marocco by Trump.
District Judge Richard J. Leon issued a temporary restraining order on Friday preventing Brehm’s removal. Trump has commended the efforts of DOGE in cutting wasteful spending from the federal government, emphasizing the need for significant change within the bureaucracy.
During his recent address to Congress, Trump reaffirmed his commitment to reclaiming power from the unaccountable bureaucracy and restoring true democracy in America. Any federal bureaucrat who resists these changes, according to the president, will be promptly removed from office as part of the administration’s efforts to “drain the swamp.”
