WNBA Draft: Hailey Van Lith teams up with Angel Reese on Sky

Former LSU teammates Hailey Van Lith and Angel Reese are reuniting in the WNBA, as Van Lith was selected by the Chicago Sky as the 11th overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft. Van Lith, who previously played for TCU, had an impressive collegiate career, making it to three Elite Eight teams and winning a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games with the women’s 3×3 basketball team.

Van Lith’s standout performance in her final season at TCU solidified her status as a top WNBA Draft prospect. She shot a career-high 45.9% from the field, averaging 17.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game. Her stellar play earned her both the Big 12’s Player and Newcomer of the Year awards, leading TCU to victory in the regular season and Big 12 title.

During her time at Louisville, Van Lith was a first-team All-ACC honoree in consecutive seasons and helped the Cardinals reach the Final Four in 2022. She then transferred to LSU, where she played alongside Reese for the 2023-24 season. Despite some initial doubts about her fit in the team’s offense, Van Lith proved her worth in her final collegiate season, prompting the Chicago Sky to select her in the first round of the draft.

Slovenia power forward Ajsa Sivka was taken 10th overall by Chicago before Van Lith was chosen, adding depth to the team’s roster. With Van Lith and Reese back together on the court, the Chicago Sky are sure to benefit from the chemistry and experience of these former LSU teammates.
