A 28-Year-Old Woman Pleads Not Guilty in ATV Crash that Killed Infant Daughter

A tragic incident unfolded in Lunenburg County when a 28-year-old woman, Madisyn Elizabeth Parker, was accused of crashing her all-terrain vehicle while impaired, resulting in the death of her infant daughter. Parker has pleaded not guilty to three charges related to the incident and her lawyer appeared in Nova Scotia provincial court to enter the pleas and elect trial in provincial court.

The trial has been scheduled to begin on July 6 of next year, with Parker remaining free on conditions in the meantime. The three charges she faces include impaired operation of a conveyance causing death, dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death, and causing death by criminal negligence.

The devastating crash occurred on May 27, 2024, when the ATV, a Polaris Rzr, rolled over on a gravel logging road near New Ross. The vehicle was carrying two adults and two children, resulting in the tragic loss of the infant girl and minor injuries to a young boy.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, the four-month-old baby girl succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Both Parker and a 52-year-old man from New Ross sustained serious injuries in the accident. Police investigations revealed that the driver’s blood-alcohol concentration was more than twice the legal limit at the time of the crash.
