Trump disappointed Russia launched rockets at Ukraine, blames Crimea on Obama

President Donald Trump expressed his disappointment on Sunday with Russia for launching missiles while peace talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy were ongoing. Trump made these remarks to reporters before boarding Air Force One on Sunday evening, where he touched on various topics ranging from the peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine to the Iranian peace talks and the tragic suicide of Jeffrey Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre.
Following his meeting with Zelenskyy on Saturday, Trump described the discussions as very productive. He emphasized his disappointment with Russia for conducting bombings in Kyiv during the peace talks. Despite the challenges, Trump remained optimistic about the potential for progress in the negotiations.
The meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy took place in Rome during Pope Francis’ funeral, marking the first face-to-face encounter between the two leaders since their Oval Office altercation in February. Zelenskyy later described the meeting as “very symbolic” and potentially “historic.”
As the peace talks between Russia and Ukraine reached a standstill, with both leaders making competing demands, Trump expressed his desire for Putin to cease hostilities and sign a peace deal. He also addressed the issue of Crimea, a territory seized by Russia in 2014, which has been a point of contention for Zelenskyy.
While American officials reportedly considered recognizing Russia’s control of Crimea as part of a ceasefire proposal, Zelenskyy reiterated his stance on Crimea’s liberation. Trump, on the other hand, blamed the situation in Crimea on former U.S. presidents, particularly Barack Obama and Joe Biden.
In addition to the ongoing negotiations with Russia and Ukraine, Trump highlighted the success of his administration’s tariff policies, which he claimed have led to a reduction in costs for items like groceries, eggs, and gasoline. He also hinted at the possibility of reducing taxes significantly due to the revenue generated from tariffs.
On a more somber note, Trump offered his condolences on the tragic passing of Virginia Giuffre, one of Jeffrey Epstein’s accusers, who reportedly died by suicide in Australia. Giuffre had accused Prince Andrew of sexual misconduct in a lawsuit filed in New York in 2021.
Overall, Trump’s comments reflected his commitment to advancing peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, addressing economic issues through tariffs, and acknowledging the tragic events surrounding Virginia Giuffre’s death. As the discussions continue, the hope remains for a peaceful resolution to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
