Carville lashes out at Jewish donors for abandoning party, defends Dem record on Israel

Democratic strategist James Carville has responded to Jewish donors who have withdrawn their support for the Democratic Party due to the pro-Palestinian protests at Columbia University. Carville, a veteran political operative, expressed his disbelief at the donors’ decision, stating that he has never seen a Democrat align themselves with controversial figures like Kanye West or Nick Fuentes, or endorse extremist parties like the Alternative für Deutschland in Germany.
Carville dismissed the notion that the rise of antisemitism on college campuses, particularly at Columbia University, should be a reason for Jewish donors to abandon the Democratic Party. He argued that historically, the Democratic Party has been a strong supporter of Israel, citing presidents like Harry Truman, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama who have taken significant steps to ensure the security and well-being of the state of Israel.
In contrast, Carville criticized the Republican Party for its association with individuals accused of antisemitism, such as Kanye West and Nicholas Fuentes. He also called out Elon Musk for endorsing the Alternative for Germany party, a group deemed extremist by Germany’s domestic intelligence agency.
Carville suggested that Jewish donors may be turning to the Republican Party because they are primarily concerned with receiving tax cuts, rather than upholding values of support for Israel and combating antisemitism. However, he maintained that the protests at Columbia University were not a valid reason to abandon the Democratic Party.
The White House pushed back against Carville’s assertions, highlighting President Trump’s strong support from the Jewish community and his record of combating antisemitism through executive orders. The administration emphasized its commitment to Israel and the Jewish community, portraying itself as the most pro-Israel and pro-Jewish in American history.
Overall, Carville’s comments shed light on the complex dynamics at play within American politics, particularly regarding issues of antisemitism, support for Israel, and party loyalty. The debate over these issues will likely continue to shape political discourse and influence voter behavior in the upcoming elections.
