Project 2025 mastermind invited to Carney’s cabinet meeting no longer speaking

The scheduled appearance of Kevin Roberts, the mastermind behind Project 2025, at Prime Minister Mark Carney’s cabinet meeting was canceled abruptly on Thursday. The conservative figure was supposed to address the Liberal team about the controversial policy blueprint that proposed a significant overhaul of the U.S. government.

Project 2025, a manifesto created by the Heritage Foundation, outlined drastic measures such as replacing civil servants with loyalists, abolishing the Department of Education, and restricting access to the abortion pill mifepristone. It also emphasized traditional family structures and individual rights as key principles.

Despite the cancellation, the Prime Minister’s Office expressed interest in continuing discussions with Roberts and other U.S. policy figures regarding Canada’s economic and security relationship with the United States. Roberts, who is currently working in Washington, acknowledged the invitation but cited prior commitments for his inability to attend the meeting.

Critics have labeled Project 2025 as an authoritarian playbook and a far-right assault on America, emphasizing its controversial nature. The document, which calls for the restoration of traditional values and the dismantling of the administrative state, has drawn both support and opposition within political circles.

Although President Donald Trump distanced himself from Project 2025 during his campaign, he has since welcomed some of its authors into his administration. Trump’s policies, including government department cutbacks and immigration restrictions, have been compared to the goals outlined in Project 2025.

In addition to Roberts’ canceled appearance, former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd is expected to address the cabinet on China’s rise and new approaches to multipolarity. Other speakers will cover topics such as the country’s mood, economic outlook, and advancements in artificial intelligence.
