Trump’s victory over Harris proves ‘Second Amendment won,’ gun rights groups say

Supporters of the Second Amendment can breathe a sigh of relief as President-elect Donald Trump is set to return to the White House in January, providing a strong ally for firearms rights advocates. Organizations such as Gun Owners of America and the National Rifle Association are eagerly anticipating working with Trump once again, despite facing opposition from gun control groups like Everytown for Gun Safety.
Aidan Johnston, the director of federal affairs for Gun Owners of America, expressed confidence in Trump’s support for the Second Amendment, stating, “The American people clearly elected a pro-gun presidential ticket.” Randy Kozuch, executive director of the NRA Institute for Legislative Action, echoed this sentiment, affirming that gun owners will have a strong advocate in the White House with Trump at the helm.
Johnston highlighted the challenges faced by the Second Amendment during the Biden administration, including restrictions on homemade firearm kits and the closure of gun stores under the administration’s “zero tolerance policy.” He emphasized Trump’s promise to sign national concealed carry reciprocity, calling on Congress to deliver on this commitment.
Kozuch emphasized Trump’s pledge to roll back attacks on law-abiding gun owners and appoint an ATF Director who respects the Constitutional right to bear arms. He expressed eagerness to work with Trump and Congress to enact policies that protect Americans’ ability to defend themselves.
Despite the opposition from groups like Everytown for Gun Safety, which vowed to double down on efforts to protect communities from what they called Trump’s “extremist agenda,” supporters of the Second Amendment remain optimistic about the future under Trump’s leadership. The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence also reiterated their commitment to fighting for gun safety measures, even in the face of challenges.
As Trump prepares to take office once again, supporters of the Second Amendment can look forward to a renewed focus on protecting their rights and ensuring their voices are heard in the halls of power. With a strong ally in the White House, the fight for gun rights is far from over, but advocates are ready to continue the battle for their freedoms.
