Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says raccoon, squirrel are among dietary preferences
Longtime Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is known for his candid and sometimes controversial remarks, but his recent revelation on a Dallas radio station took many by surprise. During a routine appearance on 105.3 The Fan, Jones shared his unusual culinary preferences, admitting that he enjoys consuming raccoons and squirrels.
The conversation began when Carolina Panthers rookie Xavier Legette’s name was mentioned, sparking a discussion about unique food choices. Legette had previously mentioned on the St. Brown Podcast that he had eaten raccoons in the past, which prompted Jones to share his own experiences.
“I’ve eaten a lot of raccoon,” Jones said. “Yes, the answer is yes. I’ve eaten it hunting, and I’ve actually had it served by my mom at the table away from hunting. … It’s not uncommon at all.”
Jones went on to recount his fondness for squirrel meat, revealing that it was a family favorite. “One of my favorites is squirrel,” he continued. “It’s wonderful, and my mother could do a great job of [preparing] it. We all had our favorite pieces. … My mom and I would even ask for the brain in a squirrel. Delicious. Seriously.”
While Jones’ dietary preferences may raise eyebrows for some, it’s clear that he has a taste for the unconventional when it comes to food. Despite his eccentric culinary choices, Jones remains focused on his role as the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, as the team prepares to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 16 with a 6-8 record.
As Jones continues to make headlines both on and off the field, his latest comments about raccoons and squirrels are sure to add another layer of intrigue to his colorful personality. Love him or hate him, Jerry Jones is not one to shy away from sharing his thoughts, whether it’s about football or his unconventional dining habits.
