Recent reports have surfaced indicating that the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) provided “full funding” for notorious al Qaeda terrorist Anwar al-Awlaki to attend college in Colorado. Al-Awlaki, who was born in the U.S. and Yemen, was a key figure in al Qaeda and had direct contact with individuals involved in terrorist activities, such as the Fort Hood shooting in 2009.
Amid investigations by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) into federal agencies for overspending and corruption, attention has been drawn to USAID’s funding practices. USAID, responsible for managing foreign aid programs, has come under scrutiny for funding questionable initiatives, including supporting a version of “Sesame Street” in Iraq and promoting transgender activism in countries like Guatemala.
Social media has been abuzz with the discovery of a document that allegedly shows USAID funded al-Awlaki’s education at Colorado State University. The document, dated June 1990, indicates that al-Awlaki received funding from USAID to attend college by falsely claiming he was a Yemeni national eligible for an exchange visa.
Al-Awlaki, who earned a degree in civil engineering from Colorado State University in 1994, went on to become a Muslim cleric in various U.S. cities before relocating to Yemen. He was eventually killed in a drone strike in 2011 after being linked to terrorist activities.
The revelation of USAID’s connection to al-Awlaki’s funding comes at a time when the Trump administration is reportedly scaling back the agency. Signs at the USAID headquarters have been removed, and the agency’s website was temporarily shut down, leading to concerns among employees about their jobs.
In response to criticisms and concerns, President Trump has reiterated his commitment to cutting government waste and inefficiencies. He has emphasized the need to address fraud and abuse within agencies like USAID to ensure taxpayer dollars are being used effectively.
As the investigation into USAID’s funding practices continues, it remains to be seen how the agency will adapt to the changing political landscape. Stay informed by joining Fox News for access to breaking news and exclusive content.
